AGAGO, UGANDA – Agago District Local Government has confirmed the arrival of over 252 tonnes of assorted agricultural seeds under the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) programme, ahead of the 2026B planting season.
District LCV Chairperson Wilson Otto confirmed that the consignment—comprising 180,000kg of maize, 50,000kg of sunflower, 15,000kg of soya beans, 5,000kg of groundnuts, 2,000kg of beans, 1,500kg of cowpeas, and 1,000kg of sesame—has officially landed in the district.
Speaking to the press from Kampala, where he is currently meeting with the State House Comptroller ahead of a scheduled audience with President Yoweri Museveni on August 5, 2026, Otto assured the public that the distribution will be conducted with strict adherence to OWC guidelines and a zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
“These seeds are a presidential intervention to boost production, and we will not tolerate any diversion or sale. Every kilogram must go to a prepared farmer with a verified field,” Otto stated.
Under the Integrated Agribusiness Market Model (IAAM), beneficiaries must meet strict prerequisites: fields must be fully prepared, GPS coordinates recorded, and farmers must present National IDs and PDM household numbers. Special priority will be given to women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
The Chairperson also thanked OWC for the continued partnership, noting that the seeds are part of a broader public-private-community partnership (PPCP) aimed at transforming Northern Uganda into a competitive agricultural corridor. District extension officers and Area MPs will jointly monitor the exercise to ensure transparency.
“I highly thank Operation Wealth Creation for this timely support. Our farmers are ready, and we are committed to making every seed count,” Otto concluded.
