UPPC Launches Digital Portal for Uganda Gazette, Ushering in a New Era of Transparency

KAMPALA, Uganda – The Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) has officially launched a new digital portal to modernize the Uganda Gazette, transforming the nation’s authoritative government publication from a traditional print format into a fully accessible online resource. The move marks a significant milestone in the corporation’s broader strategy to leverage technology for improved public service delivery.

In a statement released this week, UPPC announced that the official e-Gazette is now available via portal.uppc.go.ug. The shift is designed to enhance efficiency for businesses, legal practitioners, regulatory bodies, and the general public by ensuring reliable, real-time access to statutory instruments, legal notices, and official government announcements.

“We are modernizing the Uganda Gazette by making it digitally accessible,” UPPC stated. “This transition ensures businesses and professionals have reliable, real-time access to statutory instruments.”

Access and Pricing Structure

To access the e-Gazette, users are required to register an account on the new portal. Following registration, users can log in to the e-Resources section, where they can view, search, and download digital copies of current and past Gazette editions. The platform has been designed with a user-friendly interface to facilitate seamless navigation.

Digital copies are priced at UGX 3,000 per edition, offering an affordable option for individuals requiring occasional access. For frequent users—such as law firms, corporate entities, financial institutions, and government agencies—UPPC is offering annual subscriptions available at UGX 800,000. This subscription model provides unlimited access throughout the year, delivering significant cost savings for heavy users while ensuring they never miss a critical update.

Commitment to Digital Transparency

According to UPPC, the digitization effort represents a decisive step toward digital transparency and professional compliance. By moving the Gazette online, the corporation aims to eliminate the delays traditionally associated with print distribution, allowing stakeholders to track critical legal changes in real time. The platform also enhances accessibility for users across Uganda, reducing geographical barriers to obtaining official legal information.

“This shift to digital transparency supports professional compliance by providing a modern and efficient way to track critical legal updates,” the corporation added.

The initiative is expected to benefit a wide range of stakeholders, including lawyers, accountants, business regulators, researchers, and citizens, by streamlining access to the official record of statutory instruments and government notices. UPPC has indicated that further enhancements, including mobile optimization and advanced search features, are planned for the coming months.
